Bolu is one of the most enchanting areas of
Turkey located approximately half-way between Istanbul and Ankara. Bolu is
famous for its dense forests and modern hot spring facilities.

Lake Abant is one of the amazing beauties Bolu provides. It is 55 kms
southwest of this province, situated at an altitude of 1500 meters. The lake
is a magnificent with water lilies spread over, and the deep green forest

Another wonder of Bolu is the Yedigoller (Seven Lakes) National Park which

winter sports. It is one of the three best winter sports centers in Turkey.

kms northwest of Bolu is Konuralp which once was the ancient Pruso ad Hyplum.
You can see a well preserved Roman theatre and fine examples of Roman and
Byzantine art, sheltered in the museum.

Akcakoca offers this opportunity at an appealing setting. You can enjoy the

The
breathtakingly beautiful Yedi Goller National Park (Seven lakes) lies north
of Bolu. Nearby, lake Abant or the Seven Lakes are like scenes from fairy
tales. Antone who has seen the Seven Lakes hidden in the large forests,
spreading from Bolu towards the Black Sea, can never appreciate any other
beauty. He can not even imagine other beauties. The Seven lakes are like an
aquarium in between the tall pines of fifty to sixty meters and beech trees,
seven colors in seven lakes. Blues, greens that we have never ever seen
before. A sweet cool air in the middle of August, nobody knows where it
comes; that soothes body and soul. The sound of little water falls falling
from rocks caresses your ears. This is the Seven Lakes of the Bolu forests.
The town of Mengen has a reputation for its good cooks and holds the annual
Mengen Cooking Festival of Chefs in June, featuring traditional Turkish
specialities. The sites around Konuralp, the ancient Prusa ad Hypium,
continue to yield artifacts from both the Roman and Byzantine periods, which
are displayed in the local museum. Among the ruins, the Roman theatre is not
to be missed. The lovely beach, comfortable guest houses and hotels at
Akcakoca ensure that it remains a popular holiday resort in Black Sea Coast.
You can also visit the remains of a Genoese castle set amid hazelnut groves,
near the town.
The
Kartalkaya skiing resort is at the Western Karadeniz Region, at the
southeast of Bolu City Center, on the Köroglu mountains. The mountain has
appropriate conditions for Alpine skiing, Cross-Country and Ski Touring.
Arrival The distance to Bolu city center is 54 km. and to Ankara highway is
28 km. The distance between Ankara Esenboğa Airport - Bolu is 220 km. with
highway and the distance between Istanbul Atatürk Havaalani - Bolu is 275
km. with highway.
This distance is approximately 45 minutes with private vehicle or bus. The
arrival to ski resort from city center is about 45 minutes. One can find
Public busses and minibuses to reach the ski resort. In addition, most of
the hotels organize services for visitors.
Geography The skiing area is placed on the altitude area of 1850 - 2200
meters. The region encounters semi temperate climate. Kartalkaya Ski Resort
and surroundings is covered with forests. The dominant wind direction is
west - northwest. The most suitable period for skiing is between 20 December
- 20 March. At the normal winter conditions, three meters of snow drop is
encountered. At the beginning of the season the snow has the quality of
powdery snow and at the end of the season the snow has the quality of the
slushy snow.
Accommodation and other services There are two accommodation facilities with
a total of 1005 bed capacity in Kartalkaya. There are restaurants, swimming
pools, disco - bar - gaming saloons at the hotels. One can obtain ski
instructors and ski equipment.
Mechanical Facilities and Running Tracks There is a total transportation
capacity of 6.000 person / hour with 2 chairlift and 6 T bars and 3 baby
lifts at a total of 11 mechanical facility. The total length of the running
track is approximately 20 km. at 12 running tracks.

ABANT: Location; Abant Mountains, is 34 km.
south of the Bolu city center. Asphalt 25 km. long Abant Lake road can be
used for reaching. Road transport to Bolu, which is on the Ankara - Istanbul
highway passing is very easy. For reaching Abant Lake minibuses departing
from city center can be used.
Regional Characteristics: Dense rain forests surrounded Bolu city is
appropriate for all kinds of tourism activity. Abat Lake, whose environment
has a rich plant cover, is drawing attention as a picnic and resort place
during summers and an appropriate place for winter sports during winter.

Take Off Runway: Abant Mountains have more than one take off runways
appropriate for hillside parachute. Generally it is performed on the hills

Tourism. This natural hotspring water resources are so good to heal many
severe illnesses and diseases like heart, skin and rheumatismal diseases.

celcius hot water There is a three star hotel which was built beneath the
historical baths. Thermal Hotel serves with its private baths, health
services, physical cures and various activities. Also, there are a lot
offamily pensions.
The
big and the little hotsp ring baths can not be used unisex, but in turns for
each sexes. Transportation to this area is possible with Kaphca Birlik
Services departing every 15 minutes from Bolu city center The other hotsp
rings are Mudurnu Babas (40J 3C), Mudurnu Sarot (6613 C), Seben Kesenözü
(78]3(I) and Goynuk Çatak (32J3 C)
MUDURNU HOUSES: The Mudurnu District is also announced as Rural Protected
Area and accommodates a rich number of old Turkish Houses. The houses of
Mudurnu display similar properties with the houses of Göynük in the scope of
civil architecture and these houses representing the history and culture of
the district are under protection.
